WINGS OF HOPE HEAD WRAPPING CLASS 9-12-17
So, yesterday on Sept. 12, I was invited to Wings of Hope, a Cancer support establishment in Council Bluffs, IA to teach head wrapping to some ladies who are in the midst of chemo treatment.
The women who run this place are so warm, and so welcoming, they set me up with anything I needed: a table a styrofoam head, (which they let me keep! Score!)
We had a really good class, I gave them good leads for head coverings, as in Goodwill, Salvation Army, thrift stores, the websites I love, Middle Eastern Mall, The Little Tichel Lady, Wrapped In Beauty, Wrapunzel.com, Ali Express, Haute Hijab, etc. just depending on what they wanted to spend. and sent them towards videos on YouTube, besides demoing several tying styles of my own that I use and prefer.
A lot of them like the basic turban, and that a good start. I pointed out a non-slip head band or a shaper would be a must if there is no hair, as the scarf will need something to hang on to..
It was one of the better classes, I feel. They also gave me some new leads, so there's that! I will be posting photos as well! Yay!!!
My table of headbands, under and over types to use, snoods, shapers, scrub caps, hijab caps, all the goodies I use.
Discussing merits of a good headband!
Discussing the value of a wonderful shaper, and the difference in poufs!
All the embellishments one can use to dress up a tichel.
Showing a snood!
Talking about the different uses of scarves, and types of cancer.
Discussing wig options, or opting to not use wigs or ball caps.
More discussion...
